The second week of August my bff since 4th grade was in the state for her sister's wedding. Kelli usually resides with her darling family in upstate New York, so whenever we find ourselves in the same state, we make an effort. Chris was desperately in need of a vacation and Kelli was in state, so off to St. George we went. We drove down Friday morning and after checking into our hotel continued on to Las Vegas. One might think our trip to Vegas was for entertainment or gambling or drinking, but no, grocery shopping. The nearest Traders Joes is located there, and we desperately wanted to stock our pantry with TJ goodness. We even brought a cooler so we could take home frozen items! We did a lot of damage, but brought home some tasty goods, alone making the extra hour and a half trip worth it. I caught Chris on a (very rare!) shopping high and was even able to talk him into some needed basics at the outlet mall. We then found ourselves about mid strip, watching the water fountain, partaking in adult beverages, people gawking. We had originally planned on a tasty semi-expensive dinner, but by the time we got around to food, we were in no mood to wait. Pizza and Chipotle were satisfying at the time. We goofed around a little more, enjoying the oddities of Vegas. Before we knew it it was midnight and we still had to drive back to St. George to our hotel. Chris passed out cold and I was entertained by This American Life.

Saturday morning found us choking down a continental breakfast and then meeting Kelli and her newest babe, Matthew, at the hotels pool. Even at 10am the pool was a welcome break from the heat. We caught up and splished splashed a little before heading to Cafe Rio for lunch. We parted ways there, as Kelli had a full day of family commitments ahead of her. Chris and I headed back to the hotel for a much-needed nap. Upon awakening we concluded there was absolutely nothing to do in St. George that didn't involve the 115 degree heat or driving around. Not great options. Instead we spread out on the comfy king bed, broke out some snacks, and watched Olympics all day. Our lives seem to be pretty go go, so the opportunity to just lay and do nothing was pretty awesome. Yeah, we went all the way to St. George to watch tv in bed. What!? We eventually dragged ourselves out of bed for some pasta dinner and to see Stepbrothers, where we were 2 of 4 people in the theater. Back to the hotel for more Olympics and adult beverages! Hooray!

Sunday we slept in, apparently still deficient on lazy, and woke in time to check out and search for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Nothing jumped out at us, so we went to In-n-Out for some brunch burgers. We killed a little more time and then went to Kelli's folks house to say bye and see the kids again. McKay is adorably active. To get him to stand still for pictures long enough you tell him, "Say Lightning McQueen." Which he does in his cute little boy voice. I sure hope they move closer next year (hint, hint!). After a bit Chris and I were back on the road to pick up our happy puppy and, you guessed it, watch more Olympics.

There is an In-N-Out Burger in St. George? OMG. David will die.
Holy Cr*p! There's an In-N-Out Burger in Utah!!! I'm off - see you in a couple of days - with a gut. Animal style here I come.
Silly kids, it's been there for a few months. Just 4 short hours and the burgers can be yours.
